By the end of December 2023, Uganda was hosting over 1.6 million refugees and asylum seekers. New arrivals have continued to enter the country, mainly from the DRC, Sudan, and South Sudan
In 2023, Uganda received 98,232 new arrivals of which 50.7% arrived through the border entry points mainly at Kisoro, Lokung, and Bundibugyo, and 49.3% were received in Kampala.
The ongoing conflict in Sudan has resulted in 12,900 new arrivals from Sudan since January 2023, of these 86% have arrived in Kampala and 14% arrived in the settlements.
