As of the end of 2023, the Philippines hosts an estimated 264,000 people who are forcibly displaced, stateless, or at risk of statelessness. Among them, around 136,000 (51%) are internally displaced people, 126,000 (48%) are stateless people or people at risk of statelessness, and 2,000 (1%) are refugees and asylum-seekers. UNHCR is committed to supporting the Philippines in ensuring a favourable protection environment and that national status determination procedures remain accessible to those who are forcibly displaced, stateless, and at risk of statelessness.

UNHCR also continues its efforts to provide them with access to rights and durable solutions, work to reduce and end statelessness and offer strategic and technical support by enhancing the normative framework to address internal displacement in Mindanao.
