The improved integration of community based sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and HIV activities with clinical services increased the awareness at community level demand to utilize services. The rate of births with a skilled birth attendant present reached 99.5% which is within the Sphere standard, attributed to strong community-based awareness creation and 24/7 availability of services at all three camps. Complete antenatal care (ANC) follow-up was provided to 95.1% women, and postnatal care services provided to 79% of women. The contraceptive acceptance rate of all three camps reached 29%, requiring improvement.
At the end of the year, there were 81 people of concern living with HIV/AIDS, with 100% receiving HIV treatment of antiretroviral therapy (ART). The test and treat strategies (immediate enrolment of HIV positive clients on HIV treatment) helped to improve the outcome of the HIV treatment, and there were no AIDS-related deaths reported in all camps. World Aids Day was commemorated, with community sensitization on HIV prevention methods and testing conducted. A total of 1,159 refugees received voluntary HIV counselling and testing services, out of whom three (3) were tested positive for HIV and linked to ART service centres. 153,813 condoms were distributed at community and facility level to reduce new HIV infections. The coverage of prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV during antenatal care reached 100%. Despite the presence of adequate health staff trained on voluntary male medical circumcision, service provision is low compared to the demand due to a shortage of medical equipment. Only 176 refugees received voluntary male medical circumcision services.
