- Three CNE eligibility sessions were held in June 2020, one in Dosso and two in Niamey, in August and November. In Dosso, 79 households of 89 individuals were submitted, of which 73/82 people of concern received a favorable opinion on refugee status, while 6/7 were rejected in August, 71 cases were presented with 65 positive decisions, 3 rejections and 3 cases were postponed in November, 370 cases were submitted, 355 receiving a favorable decision, 14 rejected and one case was postponed.
- Training of RSD eligibility agents: a one-day training was organized by the RSD Officer (Exclusion) from Niamey in October for the benefit of RSD case workers on the topics of exclusion within the framework of the application of Article 1F of the 1951 Convention, the processing of asylum applications on the grounds of the applicant's sexual orientation or gender identity, as well as good practices on the handling of gender-based abuse and violence as part of RSD interviews.
- The establishment of weekly hearings on RSD at the Humanitarian Center began in late 2019; however, due to the pandemic and the worsening security situation for part of the year 2020 at the Humanitarian Center, combined with the departure of the RSD officer, these sessions could not be held. These sessions will be resuming in 2021 and will also include people of concern residing in the various “cases”.
- Appeal: counselling was provided to people of concern whose cases were rejected by the CNE. As a result, 12 appeals (recours en grâce) were submitted.
- One registration staff was added at the DREC, while one eligibility agent was transferred out of Agadez and not replaced. The eligibility agents were equipped with desk and laptops and provided access to proGres, which contributed to make their work more efficient.
