Services for persons with specific needs

2017

UNHCR’s partners, Legal Centre, Montenegrin Red Cross and Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare (MLSW), will continue providing direct assistance in their respective areas of work. During 2017 UNHCR will intensify its efforts in referring the vulnerable families/individuals who acquire status of foreigner to the local authorities to get assistance. In parallel, negotiations with the Government on the most feasible way of integrating vulnerable refugees into the schemes of social protection and health care will continue.

In order to improve the conditions of people of concern UNHCR will, through its implementing partners, continue providing the necessary psycho-social assistance, cash and non-cash assistance to some 750 people (families at social risk; support in integration in the national social welfare system; empowerment of women living in Konik camps; ad-hoc financial assistance; life-saving medical assistance).

It is expected that the number of beneficiaries of the UNHCR direct assistance among ex-Yugoslavia refugees will keep reducing in 2017, along with the acquisition of the foreigner status. Agreement with the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare, covering 100 people for cash assistance will be terminated as of mid-2017, since it is expected that all project beneficiaries will be able to apply for the Government provided social assistance in the second half of 2017.

UNHCR will continue lobbying for effective integration of refugees into national health and social welfare system.
