Armenia Emergency: Six-Month Impact Report

During the final week of September 2023, in the wake of renewed conflicts in the South Caucasus region, refugees began arriving rapidly in Armenia, urgently requiring protection and assistance. Within a brief period, they crossed the border, and by March 2024, Armenia had registered 115,243 refugees.

A total of $97 million was requested by UNHCR and partners for the inter-agency Armenia Refugee Response Plan. As of 29 March 2024, the inter-agency appeal is 51% funded. UNHCR’s specific appeal amounts to $14.6 million.

The lives of millions have been torn apart by trauma, conflict, persecution, insecurity or human rights violations, and over 130 million people are expected to be forcibly displaced or stateless by the end of 2024.

From 17 displacement situations to detailed plans for 50+ country operations, the urgent call for investment is louder than ever, with budgeted needs of $10.622 billion for 2024.
