In 2020, the Rwanda operation made utmost effort to ensure a continued provision of assistance and protection services to the Burundian refugees in Mahama camp. According to the UNHCR statistical report at 31 December, a total of 57,000 refugees were hosted in the camps receiving the different services. CBI as a modality of assistance continued, and 100% households received cash for some core relief items (CRIs) including cash to cover both laundry and hygiene soap, while sanitary pads were provided to all women in reproductive age (in-kind distribution of sanitary pads). 97% of the heads of household have bank accounts. In the area of domestic energy, the provision of LPG was the main priority and a total of 253,861kg of LPG were distribute for cooking energy to PoCs as well as school feeding in 2020 with a coverage of 100% PoC whose energy needs was met through this intervention. With the activities under taken in the reporting period, it was also possible to maintain sanitation and hygiene services at rate of 16.3 PoCs per drop hole while the daily water provision was 21 l/p/d, which is more than the minimum Standard of 20l/p/d. in terms of shelter and infrastructure, the operation was also maintained 100% through additional construction and maintenance of the existing shelter. Accordingly, in 2020, two durable communal accommodation facilities were constructed while a total of 800 family shelters were repaired, which gave better shelter services to new arrivals and existing population. During 2020 we have planted 19039 trees inside the c due to bacteria attacked trees in the camp in collaboration with refugees-based environment cooperative we have sprayed one side of infected area inside the camp

In the area of registration and documentation, the operation started with a total population of 62,381 (61,935 persons of concern and 446 not of concern spouses). 99.6% of the Population were Burundians, while 0.4% were Congolese. The operation started with 48 asylum seekers. 412 individuals were residing in Gatore reception center pending level II registration and relocation to Mahama Camp. As of the end of 2020, the current refugee population remains at 57,994 (57,605 persons of concern and 389 not of concerns). Asylum seekers figure stands at 32 individuals. 96.53% of the PoCs are Burundians, while 3.46 are Congolese. Others represent 0.01%. This population reduction is due to the VolRep that was started in the second half of the year. The operation also implemented durable solution related activities. As a result, Voluntary repatriation started in the 3rd quarter of 2020, specifically in mid-August due to the voluntariness of 30% (18,466) of Burundian refugees in Mahama to return home due to improve security as major reason. 8,000 were targeted to return by the end of 2020. 95% (7633) of the target was met; 52.3% males, 47.97% females departed (54.45% children, 42.82% adults and 2.7% elderly). With regard to education, a total of 27,159 [6013 ECD, 15,151 Primary, 5,995 Secondary persons of concern were enrolled and attended in day school in the host community and 206 enrolled in boarding schools in primary school attended. In 2020, with thefforts made to improve the health status of the population, it was possible to maintain crude mortality and under 5 mortality rates of 0.15 deaths/1000/month and 0.25 deaths/1000/month, respectively. In addition, Out of 2142 babies were delivered of which 2110(99%) of the deliveries were attended by skilled health workers.
